Stanford Materials Corporation (SMC) offers Cerium Hexaboride CeB6 ceramic parts that are zone refined. Our products have a metal impurity content of fewer than 30 parts per million. Feel free to contact us for custom product information.
Cerium Hexaboride is a ceramic material wildly used in electron microscopes with a low work function making it one of the most known cathode materials for electron emissivity, and it is very stable in a vacuum. CeB6 has an evaporation rate at normal operating temperatures near 1800 K which is lower than that of LaB6.
Cerium Boride or (Cerium Hexaboride) is generally immediately available in most volumes. Borides are all hard, high-melting materials with metal-like conductivity. They are stable to nonoxidizing acids but break down in strong oxidizing agents and strong alkalis.
Applications of Cerium Hexaboride Ceramic Part
Used to coat some high-current hot cathodes
Electron microscopes such as SEM, TEM
X-ray tubes
Electron lithography
