Molybdenum is a refractory metal that is very useful in many industrial processes and applications that would not be possible with many of the more common metals and alloys. Refractory metals and alloys are extraordinarily resistant to heat and have unique physical properties.
Because of these properties Molybdenum is useful in many high temperature applications where high melting points are required. Molybdenum also exhibits good strength at elevated temperatures making moly useful in furnace, aerospace, and similar applications. And Molybdenum's good thermal and electrical conductivity and low coefficient of expansion make it a useful metal in electronic/electrical and glass-to-metal sealing applications.
Molybdenum also has nuclear energy applications, and is employed as a catalyst in the petroleum refining industry. Molybdenum is also an essential trace element in plant nutrition, and Molybdenum sulfide is useful as a lubricant, especially at high temperatures where oils would decompose.
Molybdenum plate is widely used in the construction of furnace tooling and parts and as a feed stock for the fabrication of parts for the electronics and semiconductor industries. Standard availability is described below. We can supply molybdenum plate as per customers' requests.
Highly refined molybdenum chemicals are hydrogen reduced to molybdenum powder, having a purity of 99.95% minimum. The powder is isostatically pressed and sintered into slabs of a uniform fine grained structure. The slabs are worked first by hot rolling and then by cold rolling to the thickness specified. Plate ( defined as flat stock with a thickness above 3mm ) is finished by grit blasting and stress relieving. Sheet ( having a thickness up to 3mm ) is generally finished by degreasing and stress relieving.
Molybdenum plate is used for fabrication of sintering boats, high temperature furnace heating elements and heat shields.
Surface Condition
Surface can be supplied in a shiny, matte, or as-rolled condition; dependent upon thickness and width parameters.
Heat Treatment
Molybdenum plates are rolled and annealed to provide the optimum condition for the desired end use.
Appearance: Dark brown, sliver gray metallic luster after chemistry wash. Surface is smooth, level .no defects ,such as, double skin, divide layer, crackle, splitting. The thickness of product is more than 1.0mm, it is supplied with the hot-rolled; when the thickness is less than 1.0mm, it is supplied with the cold-rolled or chemical wash.
Surface states can be divided in black surface, chemical wash and polished surface.
